The American Society for Interior Designers is the oldest and largest professional organization for interior designers. There are different levels of membership based on experience and professional level. There is a student level of membership. This membership allows many privileges of the organization as well as being highly regarded in the professonal community.

The International Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa has the largest Student Chapter in the State, of which I have been a student member since 1999. I was elected into the President-elect position of the Student Chapter in 2001. I presided as Chapter President for and extended period in which the chapter gained the highest membership and level of productivity in recent years, giving the Chapter and Academy statewide recognition.

The Student Chapter President position requires high organizational skills as well as great teamwork abilities. The position requires high levels of commitment and dedication to the profession and organization. The President is also responsible for overseeing the planning, and execution of all aspects of the organization.
